Thank you!!!
Dear all
I wish to thank you from all my heart for your generous donations, encouragement and support!
I have felt extra motivated, both during the training and during the race, knowing that I was doing it for a good cause.
I am sure that the students would also join in expressing their gratitude for your contributions!
The race itself went very well. The weather was perfect, not too cold and not too hot. The first 16 km were a fairy tale, after that it started to get tough. It is then that it really helped me to think that I was not doing it for myself only.
Although definitely the hardest part of the race is the preparation to it!
I have also managed to reach my goal of approximately 2 hours without overexerting myself. I could even push a little harder towards the end (well, granted not until the VERY end...)
I am really proud, because I have only (re-)started training regularly in December. Before that I used to run quite a lot recreationally, but the last time I had managed to actually finish a training program was before having children, so more than 10 years ago.
What I (re)discovered is that the 21 km race is all about knowing how to save and invest your efforts. I love the tactical side of it, and how it allows you to learn your limits and improve every time!
21 km is also a great distance because it requires some will power, but the preparation for it does not take over your life. I couldn't imagine finding the time to prepare for a marathon, but a half-marathon is still doable.
I will now take a little break from following a training program and run for fun for some time:), and then on to the next racing season in 2025, and the next half-marathon probably in March or April.
If you are interested to (re-)start running or run together, I am always happy to be of support! What I learned from my training is that every running distance is worth the effort, every speed trains you for something, and running with someone helps both to keep you disciplined and to better manage the physical discomfort:)
Warm regards and thank you again!
Anna
